What is aqueous coating?
Aqueous coating uses a water-based dispersion with a microscopic amount of synthetic polymer to create the waterproof barrier. Unlike PLA or PE-lined cups, there's no separate plastic layer — the coating is embedded directly into the paper fibers and uses approximately 70% less material than traditional cup linings. The result is a cup that's certified home compostable to AS5810.
Will these cups work in my state?
Yes — in every Australian state and territory. Our aqueous-coated sugarcane cups meet compliance requirements including Western Australia's strict regulations where PLA-lined cups are banned for beverages.

What's the difference between aqueous and PLA coating?
PLA coating: Plant-based bioplastic applied as a separate layer on top of paper. Industrial composting only in most cases. Banned in WA.
Aqueous coating: Water-based dispersion embedded directly into paper fibers. Uses ~70% less waterproof material. Certified home compostable. Compliant in all states including WA.
What lids fit these cups?
Our bagasse (sugarcane pulp) lids are designed for a guaranteed fit. They're unlined, home compostable, and compliant everywhere including WA.
PLA lids also fit but are restricted in WA. For multi-state compliance, bagasse lids are the safe choice.
What's the minimum order?
